Lost in its own maze

Fear Pharm  ★½

I HAD avoided watching the horror film Fear Pharm on streaming services for a while.

The title is lame and it looked like your typical below-average slasher.

But then I noticed a sequel appear and thought they must have done something right to get that green light.

Sadly, no. Fear Pharm is well below your average slasher, due mainly to a terrible script and poor acting.

The best thing about the film is it’s setting – the largest cornfield maze in the United States where a makeshift family of psychopaths is killing a skinning people and turning the resulting liquid into beauty products.

There are a couple of mildly humorous moments but this is a colour by numbers exercise that still scrawls outside the lines.

Buyer beware…It’s a pretty low bar these days for streaming horror films to get a sequel.
