C&W shark hunter out of tune

Maneater  ★★

MY possibly pointless interest in all shark movies continues.

Maneater is one of the latest and it joins many others in being barely average in quality, acting and thrills.

At least there are plenty of characters available for the shark to chomp into, albeit very unrealistically.

Of most interest are two of the stars – Jeff Fahey, who barely has anything to do in a Hooper-style shark expert role, and country music star Trace Adkins playing the father of one of the shark’s early victims who sets off hunting it by himself.

Adkins’ performance is as wooden as one of his folk guitars.

Unbelievably, the final scene sets up a hopeful sequel.

Please God, no.
