ONE Shot – the title says it all.
The most impressive thing about 2021 British action thriller One Shot is the fact that it is actually presented as one continuous take.
Director James Nunn has made a half-dozen action movie, most of which are little-known, straight-to-streaming affairs.
So it’s a little strange for Nunn and crew to take the time, effort and care to tackle a trick that’s usually reserved for A-listers with big budgets.
Overall they do a retry good job and there is sustained tension created when you have no idea from where the next bullet will come.
The camera follows a Navy SEAL squad on a mission to pick-up and transport a prisoner, starting inside a helicopter, landing at a base for a briefing, travelling by road to a CIA interrogation facility and then having to fight off a team of terrorists intent on saving their man and killing everyone else in sight.
The lead role is played by B-grade action star Scott Adkins, but don’t let that put you off.
