THERE is only so much poetic licence you can give a film-maker.
Anna Foerster’s 2022 American crime thriller Lou has a few too many plot contrivances and coincidences.
The film starts well enough with comedian turned dramatic actress Allison Janney playing what should be an interesting lead role.
Her character is a gruff loner who gets reluctantly involved in protecting the young woman and her daughter who are living in a rental home on her property.
There is no doubt Janney does a decent job and there is better-than-average tension in the action sequences.
But, as the mystery deepens, there is just too much of a requirement to suspend disbelief for my liking.
