JAMIE Foxx almost always delivers an entertaining performance.
His film choices haven’t always been of the same level which is probably why his career feels a little under-rated.
Another example is the 2023 legal drama The Burial in which Foxx again dominates, all the more of an achievement when your co-star is Tommy Lee Jones.
Foxx plays Willie E. Gary, a real-life defence attorney known for taking on high-profile cases involving social causes and mainly black clients.
Gary is a brash, confident and flamboyant man who puts himself as much front and centre of any case as those who have sought his help.
The Burial focuses on an unlikely case for Gary which involved an elderly white business owner’s commercial lawsuit against a major competing company.
During the course of the trial, Gary and Jeremiah O’Keefe, played by Jones, form an unlikely relationship which leads Gary to question aspects of his own life and career.
While the legal drama is fairly slight for this type of film, there’s no doubting the entertainment value delivered by this kind of on-screen charisma.
