Night Swim (2024) ★★

NOT content with scaring us away from the beaches, Hollywood is now trying to scare us out of enjoying our backyard pools.

Granted the haunted pool in the American horror film Night Swim has been built on a former natural spring that I gather was sacred in some manner that isn’t properly explained.

It’s a silly premise but the cast and director try as best they can to make it interesting.

There are a few jump scares for the casual or gateway horror viewers but, if you have seen all the films it borrows liberally from, including Poltergeist, IT, The Amityville Horror and, yes, even Jaws, you should save your money for now and see all those films first.

Watched at the cinema.
