AUSTRALIAN writer/director Alastair Newton Brown’s debut feature is a promising first effort.
Here Be Dragons was filmed in Serbia and tells the story of a war crimes investigator’s hunt for a Serbian war criminal.
When we meet David Locke at the start of the film he is part of a United Nations peace-keeping patrol which witnesses a series of killings led by one particular commander.
Years later Locke is a war crimes investigator and gets a new lead suggesting the former commander is still alive and running a business in Belgrade.
Despite being told he does not have the authority or funds to hunt the man, Locke does so anyway.
in Serbia where a United Nations patrol war crimes investigator goes to Belgrade to hunt a man whom everybody thought was dead.
Full credit for Newton Brown coming up with an interesting story and choosing to film in a foreign country for added authenticity.
The acting, including Nathan Sapsford as Locke, is mostly fine but the script runs out of steam a fair way from home.
