FULL marks to Canadian writer/director Chris Nash for trying something a little different with his slasher horror film In a Violent Nature.
Nash presents most of the events through the perspective of the lumbering, mute killer, as opposed to the traditional eyes of the victims.
We end up with mixed results.
Sometimes the scenes are interesting and surprisingly tense.
But at other times it feels like you are stuck in one of those interminable video games where you waste time poking around looking for an exit.
Staying with the killer enables Nash to misdirect the audience with some decent jump scares and sudden violence.
But I didn’t appreciate just traipsing along with the killer through the bush for what seemed a few minutes on a couple of occasions.
Still, there are a couple of inventive kill scenes and it all augers well for whatever Nash does next.
