CUT to film studio executives chatting.
“That movie M3GAN, with the girl AI that turned on her family; that made plenty of dough. We should do something like that?
“Yes, but what if instead of being a girl the AI was a hot woman? That way we could have sex scenes in there as well.
“Who’s going to play the role? We need some sort of name?
“How about Megan Fox? She’s hot and she’s still a bit of a drawcard.
“Yeah, plus her name is actually Megan. Get it?
“I do, just like the other film is M3GAN, we will have our own real Megan…well, kind of.
‘I like it. Make it happen…and quickly, before M3GAN 2 comes out and they steal our idea.”
Maybe that wasn’t the origin story for sci-fi horror Subservience, but this 2024 release still feels like a quick attempt to cash-in.
To their credit, the writers of Subservience try to weave in some social commentary around the increased use of AI robots.
But, overall, there is nothing different here, apart from Fox who can’t really do much anyway, other than take her clothes off, because she’s playing a robot.
That leaves Italian actor, Michele Morrone, to carry the film and he does a half decent job, especially considering he previously appeared in the 365 films, one of the worst trilogies ever released.
