#Float sinks to bottom

#Float  ★½

TWO weeks removed from #Float and I can barely remember it.

I better refresh myself and watch the trailer.

OK, I’m back. Yep, I remember now, this film is a turkey.

Directed and co-written by Zac Locke, it’s a budget horror film that features no scares, average to poor acting performances and a plot that becomes increasingly nonsensical.

A would-be social media influencer and her friends embark on their annual river float, this year commemorating the death of one of their group during the interceding year.

From the very start things just don’t make sense.

For example, the supposedly solemn occasion is quickly marked by everyone getting drunk and one bloke snorting some of the dearly departed friend’s ashes off his partner’s leg. What an heartfelt tribute.

Apparently there is a paranormal force in the local river that starts to pick them off one by one, but very little is shown, let alone any attempted explanation offered.

Characters react to people going missing by laughing it off and going returning to their deep conversations about how many followers they have.

The only time the would-be influencer’s numbers increase at all is when she’s in danger.

Maybe that’s the point of the film, but really who cares.

Do not waste valuable time on this one.
