NETFLIX has become one of the cheapest sources of foreign horror films.
Ok, many of them may be average; but there are plenty worthwhile including the 2021 Italian film A Classic Horror Story.
Italian actress Matilda Lutz, who was so good in 2017’s Revenge, plays the lead role of a young woman travelling in a group on an extended share ride.
Elisa is joined in the RV by a young couple, a grouchy doctor and travel blogger/driver Fabrizio.
We already know from the prologue that there is violence and torture to come before the van accidentally runs off the road and they are stranded in the countryside near a forest.
Of course they go straight to a creepy cabin in the woods and are terrorised by the occasional occupants.
There is more to this film than that set-up and even the title suggest.
The film has a couple of layers, a nice twist and meta elements that lift it above the average.
Watched on Netflix.
