Message from the King ★★★

ACTION thriller Message from the King is another reminder of the talent that was Chadwick Bozeman.

The charismatic American actor died a few years ago and is best remembered for his role in Marvel’s Black Panther.

In 2016’s Message from the King, Bozeman plays Jacob King who travels from his home in Cape Town, South Africa, to Los Angeles after receiving a concerning message from his younger sister.

Bianca is estranged from Jacob and lives with her husband and his son. She is also a drug user.

On arrival it doesn’t take long for King to find out his sister is dead and he proceeds to investigate by himself.

This brings him into contact with a range of nefarious characters including a smarmy dentist played by Luke Evans and a sleazy film producer played by Alfred Molina.

It’s a tough, violent film elevated from the average by Bozeman’s presence and a good supporting cast.
