Top Ten of 1975

CONTINUING my personal film journey with a great year – 1975.

1 Jaws. One of the best films ever made – period.

2 One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. Jack Nicholson at the height of his powers.

3 Monty Python and the Holy Grail. One of the funniest films ever made.

4 Raging Bull. Robert De Niro’s famous body-altering method performance as boxer Jake La Motta.

5 Dog Day Afternoon. Director Sidney Lumet and star Al Pacino are the perfect combination.

6. The French Connection II. Under-rated sequel to the William Friedkin crime classic has Popeye Doyle on the hunt in Marseilles.

7 Picnic at Hanging Rock. One of the best Australian films ever made.

8. Three Days of the Condor. Terrific, much-copied spy thriller.

9. Hustle. A great ending for the romance between Burt Reynolds’ cop and Catherine Deneuve’s escort.

10. Race With The Devil. Early prototype action thriller with satanists on motorcycles.
