Hell minus much fury

Hell Hath no Fury ★★½

FRANCE 1941.

A German officer and his French girlfriend are fleeing the war with gold bars to fund their future together.

They are attacked by partisans and a gun battle occurs.

Fast forward to a couple of years later and the American forces are starting to liberate parts of the country.

A small group of soldiers has the woman from the prologue in tow, insisting she take them to a grave where the gold is hidden.

But they are not the only ones looking for it.

Not a bad premise, but Hell Hath No Fury never manages to fully transcend its low-budget restrictions.

The acting is reasonable and some of the action solid, but the script remains standard at best and the tele-visual look impacts the authenticity of wartime France.

You always feel you are watching a film being made rather than experiencing the final product.
